| Small Aquariums A mistake that many people new to the hobby make is that of buying an aquarium that is too small for their eventual needs, or even worse, too small for the fish they hope to keep! The most extreme example of this is the, so called, "Goldfish Bowl". These unfiltered tanks often contain less than a gallon of water, they are totally unsuitable for fish which can easily grow to over 6" long. Although we don't sell goldfish bowls we do stock a wide range of smaller aquariums from 5 to 15 gallons (25 - 70 litres). Surprisingly small aquariums are more appropriate for tropical fish than for coldwater fish, this is because there is a much wider range of small tropical fish and the heater thermostat in a tropical aquarium will keep the temperature of a small aquarium much more stable.
The success of the BiOrb has led the manufacturer "Reef
One" to introduce a couple of new products. The BiOrb 60 is a bigger
version of the original BiOrb. Double the volume at 60 litres, it is
a much better size for keeping goldfish. Supplied complete with light,
air pump & filter.
The new BiOrb stand is available in silver & beech
finishes and is suitable for the BiUbe as well as both sizes of BiOrb.
Another popular small aquarium is the AQUA-40. Available in black & silver finishes, this bow fronted, glass aquarium features an integral hood with a PL light & internal powerfilter. All for an incredible price of just £49.99. A heater/thermostat and thermometer will be required if you wish to keep tropical fish in this aquarium.

By
far the most popular small aquarium that we sell is the BiOrb. These
30 litre globes are supplied with an air pump and integral filter. They
are just about large enough to house two goldfish, providing it is borne
in mind that as the fish grow larger, it may be necessary to move them
to a larger aquarium. A heater/thermostat, heater holder and thermometer
will be required if you wish to keep tropical fish in this aquarium.
Also
available is the new BiUbe, a cylindrical aquarium of 35 litres complete
with light, filter & air pump.
